Festival

Reel Dakota is Sioux Falls’ first film festival. Like other great film festivals, Reel Dakota creates a dynamic and unique opportunity for film lovers and filmmakers to engage with one another over the course of multi-day screenings, tributes, VIP events and, of course, after parties. Our goal is to bring our audiences the indie and foreign films that are currently traveling the festival circuit and provide a showcase for emerging filmmakers. Reel Dakota was founded in 2010, and is supported by the year round efforts of the Reel Dakota Film Society.

The 2011 Reel Dakota Film Festival will be on October 20-23!

The first annual Reel Dakota film festival was held on September 24 and 25, 2010 at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, SD. Films were shown in the 291-seat Belbas Theatre, the Cinedome and the intimate and comfortable Schulte screening room (“the couch theater”). Located in the heart of downtown, this historic venue allows patrons to move easily between three theaters under one roof, while enjoying easy access to downtown dining, retail shopping and lodging.

Reel Dakota: Take 2 promises an expanded program of films and educational events during its four-day schedule in October of 2011. Opening night begins on Thursday, October 20, with two special Friday matinees. The full film schedule will begin Friday evening through Saturday night with multiple films playing in all venues simultaneously. Films continue on Sunday, October 23 and conclude with our Audience Award winner announcements.
